It is fun and efficient to access the Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) via remote access. When using remote access it is no longer necessary to come up to tap the IWB; students can participate by pressing an offered wireless switch. Over the years I’ve explored a whole host of options for mounting a remote switch to make it less prone to accidental activations . Options have incorporated variations of the following materials: triwall, plywood, press board, indoor-outdoor carpet, tempo display loop fabric and velcro.
I’m pleased to announced that I have finally arrived at the simplest and probably cheapest solution … a small plastic cutting board with built in handle ($5.95 ; 11.8” X 7.8”) and velcro. When attaching your remote switch to the board, be sure to keep in mind the ‘velcro rules’. Whatever is being attached should have the hook/male velcro. The receiving surface should have the loop/female velcro. If you adhere to this rule, you can attach the switch to other surfaces covered with indoor-outdoor carpet or Tempo Display Loop fabric
I do not know why it took me so long to arrive at the
cutting board solution for mounting a remote switch. Better late than never!
