Using Apple TV to Display ASbyS

In previous posts I have discussed the use of the free Microsoft PowerPoint app to display your Animated Step-by-Steps™ on your iPad (http://bit.ly/NavigationRoadmap). In the home environment and sometimes in the school environment you have the luxury of taking this one step further, i.e.,  using your iPad in conjunction with Apple TV to present your Animated Step-by-Steps™ on a large screen TV.

This enlarged format is great for small group therapy or a family viewing, and is especially fun when the ASbyS has been personalized with student/family photo faces (http://bit.ly/PersonalizingPoems). As illustrated, you will be using your iPad directly or a Bluetooth switch remotely to trigger the ASbyS animations. See a previous post for further information re: remote access. http://bit.ly/EstablishingRemoteAccess.

If you own an Apple TV, you are already aware of the fact that Apple TV works with your WiFi Network. It has a power cord and is connected to your TV with a HDMI cable.

Here are the simple steps for using Apple TV to project your iPad screen on your large screen TV:

On Your iPad

1.     Swipe up from the bottom of your iPad to display the iPad’s mini control panel

2.     Select AirPlay

1.     Turn on Apple TV and Mirroring. Your iPad screen should appear on the TV screen.

Open the Microsoft PowerPoint App and select the ASbyS you wish to use. Select presentation mode (arrow in upper right corner).

You can now trigger the animations from your iPad or using a Bluetooth switch (if an easier motor response is required).

Enjoy using your ASbyS on your large screen TV
