More on Shadow Light Cuing

Shadow Light Cuing was previously discussed as an excellent way to unobtrusively nurture expressive communication. http://bit.ly/shadowlightcue. This clinical strategy is most effective when working in a group where the Primary Facilitator is creating numerous communicative opportunities and Secondary Facilitators (e.g. personal assistant, assistant teacher, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, volunteer) are serving as the ‘silent coach’ providing a hierarchy of light prompts to assist students in capitalizing on these communicative opportunities. For more information on the benefits of a Primary-Secondary Facilitator Model please refer to this previous blog post,  http://bit.ly/Primary-Secondary

I recently found an LED keychain flashlight that I am thrilled to say works great for shadow light cuing. Just do an internet search for Home Kitty LED flashlight and several sources will appear with considerable variation in their pricing.

Counting Poems/Songs

Counting is embedded in many of the Animated Step-by-Steps®. There are, however, several ASbyS poems and songs that are specifically designed to address counting in an interactive and fun way … making them a valuable addition to a preschool classroom.

Here are a few of the ‘Counting’ ASbySs poems/songs that are currently available for purchase on the Teachers Pay Teachers site. Please note these resources also lend themselves beautifully to working on simple addition and subtraction in a functional way. Many also tie into a science curriculum.

Duh! A Search Box .... What Took You So Long?

I recently added a search box to the Animated Step-by-Steps® blog! Soooooo sorry it took so long to realize that I could do that. I guess this ‘better late than never’ discovery is timely given I have just hit the '100-mark' for posts!  Truth be known,  I had just finished creating the attached pdf of the 100 posts when I thought I might search the design layout to see if a search box could be added to the site. Definitely a 'duh' moment.

Now if you are wanting to find further information on ‘remote switch’ or anything to do with ‘Dropbox’ or you want to review what you previously read about the ‘Fishing Game’,  just type in a few key words and it will ‘whistle up’ the blog post. As you know from surfing the web, fewer words are better for a successful search.

The search box can be accessed just above the list of blog posts.

Happy surfing the blog! Here's hard copy of the posts, working backwards from the most recent. Just select and drag the image below to your desktop.
